Boozy Ice Cream Review! The Tennessee Creme Brulee

While walking through my local Total Wine store, I was suddenly accosted by a small freezer full of boozy ice cream at the cash register. Perhaps “accosted” is a slight exaggeration, but seeing it got my attention! What else got my attention?

The majority of the flavors were gluten-free! I asked if I should test out the boozy ice cream on my Instagram (for scientific purposes, of course), and a rousing majority cried, “YES!”

Okay, so it was two of my followers, but that’s rousing enough for me. (My bar is low when it comes to reader requests for me to eat gluten-free desserts, especially if they’re of the adult variety.)

Not going to lie…

I was tempted to buy three to get the free silver thermal sleeve, as who doesn’t love branded freebies? However, the deciding factor was the price point, so I ultimately settled on buying just one. The only downside is that it is kind of expensive at $17 USD a pint. I did what I had to do to get the job done.

I used my husband’s credit card.

So that you can read the labels and the ingredients, let’s start off with a few close-up shots.

I selected The Tennessee Creme Brulee ice cream because:

a) Jack and I are friends, and

b) as most of us know, creme brulee is one of the few desserts that are usually safe for us at restaurants.

Since we are beyond experts at how the best ones taste, it makes the most sense that this would be the boozy ice cream of choice.

The metal lid definitely gives opening the boozy ice cream a premium feel. The lid is nicely embossed with the brand logo. I saw that this is a Florida company, which was a pleasant surprise! When I looked down into the ice cream, it appeared that there was skin on it, but fear not: it was merely a nice little round of parchment to keep the ice cream from developing skin. A solid touch!

Now let’s get to the taste test!

Creme brule ice cream with Jack Daniels….mmmmm!

My spoon test was not what I expected, which was rock-hard ice cream. But it turns out that boozy ice cream is naturally softer than regular ice cream because…booze. I scooped myself up a bowl to really get down to the nitty-gritty: the taste test.

Reading on the container that a serving contained only 2/3 of a cup was a little rough. I thought it would be bigger for that many calories. Accordingly, I tried to stick to the correct serving size and you should know: this is a very small bowl!

What did I think about the taste? It was very creamy, with an almost light texture. The boozy ice cream was not at all heavy or dense. The flavor was reminiscent of a “dessert coffee,” with the Jack Daniels liquor definitely the star of the show. The creme brulee part of the ice cream was not as dominant as I thought it would be. However, this was not that big a deal.

The boozy ice cream was delicious! And no, I did not feel intoxicated at all after eating it!

My overall take

I am a lazy cook, so my thoughts about how to use this dessert option went straight to a fancy yet lazy treat when you had guests. (So long as they are not teetotalers.) Spooning a pretty scoop into a bowl with a gluten-free wafer on top would look pretty. You can experiment with different garnishes when using the other flavors, as there are several more choices. Your guests will definitely feel that they are getting something a little bit special, and honestly, they are.

Since you will need to go to the liquor store for wine anyway, check out their cashier’s area. You may be in luck with an instant dessert! This product is available in Florida, New York, and Las Vegas.

Happy eating!
